The Role

Mondo Robot is a mostly-human group of talented designers, product owners, and developers creating high profile, expertly-crafted digital experiences. Our center of gravity is in Colorado, but we work with clients and teammates remotely across the northern and southern hemisphere. Ideal candidates must be curious, motivated, passionate, opinionated but flexible, thorough, precise, professional yet not stuffy, creative, and determined.

Are you a developer and leader with a passion for managing teams, working with cutting-edge web and mobile frameworks, cloud architecture, AI, and making a big impact with large brands? We’re on the lookout for a dynamic Associate Technology Director who’s ready to lead our tech strategy and drive innovation. With 5-8 years of experience under your belt, a solid foundation in computer science, and a knack for mentoring talented engineers, you’ll be the go-to person for all things tech. If you have experience creating excellent websites, mobile apps, APIs and/or production AI systems and you’re eager to bring your expertise to the table, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

Architect and plan high performance sites, apps and cloud systems:

  • Design and implement tech solutions that are as scalable as they are innovative, perfectly tailored for large, consumer-facing brands.
  • Experience working on one of the major cloud providers: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Experience using LLMs and GenAI in production
  • Manage the integration of 3rd party technology, build trust with our clients and interface with their internal systems
  • Consider all implications of scale, security, privacy, latency and costs
  • Research and implement tooling that makes our work faster, easy, and more reliable

Mentoring & Team Building:

  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers, creating an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive.
  • Be the guru for your team, offering expert advice on tricky technical challenges and helping them grow in their roles.
  • Identify opportunities for your team members to shine and support their professional development.
  • Diligently manage 1x1 check ins with each member of the engineering team to listen to their concerns, offer suggestions and foster trust.

Project Juggling:

  • Manage multiple tech projects like a pro, ensuring they’re completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • This is a hands-on role. We need someone that can jump into the code, but also know when to step back to take a broader look at barriers in front of the team
  • Work closely with product, marketing, and other teams to make sure our tech initiatives hit the mark.
  • Spot potential risks early and come up with plans to keep things on track.

Keeping Everyone in the Loop:

  • Be the tech ambassador, translating complex technical ideas into language that everyone can understand.
  • Present tech roadmaps, progress updates, and other important info to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, external vendors, and partners to support our tech goals.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. (A Master’s is a plus)
  • 5-8 years of tech experience, with at least 3 of those years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience working with large brands—you know their unique tech needs and how to meet them
  • Excellent communication skills in English (bonus for fluency in Spanish as well)
  • Stellar communication skills—you can talk tech to anyone, even if they’re not tech-savvy
  • A proven track record of leading and mentoring teams, creating a positive, productive atmosphere
  • Strong project management skills—you can juggle multiple projects like a circus performer

Highly Desired:

  • Experience building award-winning sites and/or mobile apps
  • A product excellence mindset (quantified by user reviews, strong adoption growth, etc)

Benefits:

  • Competitive medical (100% subsidized for employee), dental and vision plan offerings
  • 401k with company match
  • Comprehensive list of paid holidays including a holiday break and summer Fridays
  • Flexible time off (FTO) policy
  • Partial mobile phone service reimbursement
  • Generous supplemental leave policies
  • Numerous company-sponsored events / activities throughout the year

Salary Range

$190,000 - $210,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
