Senior Product Designer - UI Focus

At Mondo Robot, we design and build digital experiences that move the human experience forward. We specialize in experience strategy, product design, interactive design, digital branding, full stack engineering and buttery smooth interfaces.

We are looking for someone to enter our circle of designers who who can collaborate in the execution of engaging and effective digital experience work as a key tactical contributor in the design process, while setting a standard of execution for UI, prototyping visual creative and design x dev handoff that elevates the experiences we create and inspires the culture and practices of our team.

As a Senior Product Designer, UI at Mondo Robot, you’ll be an emerging design leader who will work directly with other designers, cross-functional team members and key partner stakeholders to conceptualize, define, and design the strategy, experience design and user interfaces for innovative digital products and interactive experiences.

You’ll be both passionate and pragmatic, working autonomously and thinking broadly across platforms and domains while diving deep into pixels, micro-interactions, and overarching vision. You’ll be a standard bearer in the specializations of UI design, prototyping, visual creative, design systems, animation and interaction design who can lead by example and inspire other designers on the team, with a strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a collaborative, fast paced and dynamic environment.

We are based out of Boulder, CO, but this role is fully remote. You will report to the Executive Creative Director.

Skills & Qualifications

This position requires 5+ years experience as a UI designer, preferably in a digital or product agency environment.

Your primary skills are…

  • User Interface design expertise in desktop and mobile web, and native mobile apps
  • Ability to execute usable, accessible, coherent and engaging design solutions with a distinctive visual style
  • Experience translating UX, product and feature requirements into surprising and elegant user interface design
  • Mood-boarding and style tiles to explore various design directions and gain alignment
  • An ability to work autonomously on large scale digital product and interactive experience design projects as a primary tactical contributor, including executing design for both marketing and feature-rich product solutions
  • Mastery of Figma, Adobe CC and other relevant design tools, including a working understanding of components, styles, variables, variants, properties, auto-layout and prototyping
  • Applied practice in atomic design systems, including type scales, color systems, UI themes and creative treatments, including how to build, contribute to and evolve them as a product or solution scales
  • Prototyping and interaction design, including the production of rich prototypes to support your design vision
  • Ability to defend and provide rationale for strategic design decisions big and small, and document meticulous design requirements with annotations in Figma
  • Developing focused narratives that support the work, with the ability to present them to internal teams and client partners to both generate buy in for the work and follow through on execution
  • A hunger for learning more about your chosen specializations, and a desire to understand and contribute to all phases of design
  • Experience working collaboratively with UX Designers, Product Strategists and Software Engineers
  • Ability to produce dev-ready designs and manage design x dev handoff using Figma and other documentation tools
  • Adherence to accessibility design standards
  • Having a top-notch portfolio that reflects strengths in conceptual thinking, UX, and visual design

You have experience with...

  • Animation, motion and interaction design
  • Bleeding edge tools for accelerating prototyping and design workflows, such as Principle, Origami, Framer, Unicorn, Play, etc.
  • Creative concepting, graphic design and illustration
  • Inspiring others on your team with the way you do and position your work
  • Design QA and agile Jira workflows
  • Working to understand the needs of the user, business operator, brand and engineering teams, to ensure your design solutions deliver real value to each of them
  • Analyzing and organizing complex content structures
  • Understanding the impact technology and business requirements have on the feasibility of a design solution
  • Staying on top of emerging technology and design trends, participating in design thought leadership and and a desire to formalize and share design inspiration and resources with the team and organization
  • Design systems, including how to build, contribute to and evolve them as a product or solution scales

You might also know something about…

  • User testing and feature optimization using both quantitative and qualitative user analytics
  • UX copywriting and/or creative copywriting
  • Midjourney, ChatGPT, Diffy, Claude, ComfyUI and other creative AI tool workflows
  • Non-traditional digital design experience, such as VR, AR, conversational UI or game design
  • Product strategy and UX design
  • 3D, Animation, Video Editing and Front End knowledge are not required but any are a plus

Salary Range 

$120,000 - $130,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
